The higher the waves,
The harder you row,
Your harbor is heaven,
If Jesus you know.

There are Mennonite farms and businesses in this area.   Mennonites are followers of Menno Simons, a 16th century Dutch priest converted to this Protestant sect Anabaptist (re-baptized adult believers) and spread its teachings. Like the Amish, there is a lot of variety among Mennonite communities.  Some wear distinctive dress (simple dress with women wearing head coverings) that sets them apart from the rest of the population and shun members who do not follow the church's teachings.  While some Mennonites continue to farm, other Mennonites have established colleges.  All Mennonites practice nonviolence and and pacifism.

Food is served cafeteria style &
items are priced individually.

Eric & I chose a table
for four so we could
spread out our lunches.

We each built our own salads.  Eric chose Shredded Roast Beef with Gravy, Rice and Cheesy New Potatoes for lunch with his Homemade Roll and Homemade Cornbread.  I also chose Shredded Roast Beef and asked for a few Meatballs in White Sauce with Greens and Fried Okra along with my Homemade Cornbread.  Eric shared his Pecan Pie with me.

After lunch, Eric and I visited the Bakery.

Cakes, Pies, Doughnuts,

After much discussion, Eric bought a loaf of Sourdough Bread.  I look forward to making toast and sandwiches made with our fresh bread.
