Our tech takes off the
exterior louvered panels
& disconnects the water
line to the ice maker.
Our Norcold refrigerator is removed
from the wall & the old refrigerator
cooling system is removed.
The piping where the ammonia
circulates is old & rusty.
Our Winnebago Vectra motorhome is ten years old. Eric's been reading about RV refrigerator cooling units. After about ten years, this part starts to go and needs replacement.
The new refrigerator cooling
unit is brought into the
motorhome & installed on
the back of the refrigerator.
I'm including this picture
from the Internet of a
refrigerator with a new
cooling unit.
The refrigerator is put back into the wall and connections are reattached.
The ammonia circulating
tubes are shiny & new.
Our tech is re-installing
the refrigerator molding.
The refrigerator is now
securely reattached
to the motorhome.
At 4 pm, the refrigerator is turned on. Now we have to wait the temperature to drop in the freezer and main compartment. An AC/DC RV refrigerator doesn't cool down as quickly as an electric refrigerator.
When we go to bed the temperature in the freezer is in the 30s and the main compartment temperature is in the 50s. This really takes a long time. When we got up the next morning the freezer is 20 degrees and the main compartment is 44 degrees. After reviewing the results with our tech, my Eric went to see Sue in the office to pay the bill. Our out of pocket expense was $100.00 for this $2,200.00 repair, thanks to our Good Sam Extended Service Plan.
We will stay in the area for two days to monitor the refrigerator. If it stops working correctly, we'll bring the motorhome back to Eric's RV Performance Center for further work on the refrigerator.
