Our drive starts out in a
sparsely treed section of
the Yukon Territory.
After this shot of the Kathleen
River, I told Eric that we were
looking for Kathleen Lake.
I look to the left briefly, and Eric is swerving to the right hand shoulder of the road.
JC!!! JC!!!
JC!!! JC!!!
We had just passed the sign
for Kathleen Lake.
I got out of the motorhome, jogged down the road, took the picture and then jogged back, settled into the passenger seat, put my seat belt back on.
We stopped to get a picture at one of many turnoffs
with scenic views.
This is Dezadeash Lake
I get a picture, return to the motorhome, put my seat belt on and Eric drives off. Suddenly, he's turning toward the shoulder of the road and braking hard. JC!!! JC!!!
Eric had spotted a porcupine.
I was able to get pictures of it
lumbering up the roadside
embankment.
The mountains ahead of us
look like they have zebra stripes.
Eric drives through a
construction zone.
Under the Construction Ends
sign is a Thank You & Resume
Speed Sign.
How thoughtful!
Eric swerves to the left hand shoulder. JC!!! JC!!! He had spotted wildlife in lake, just off the left hand side of the road.
Two Trumpeter Swans taking
turns feeding.
turns feeding.
Approaching Alaska, we see
that the time zone will change.
We will be four hours behind
the east coast.
At US Customs we reported
that we had no fresh fruits or
vegetables, no fire arms & less
than $10,000.00 in cash with us.
During late August & September Bald Eagles swarm this area,
eating Salmon that are headed upstream to spawn.

We camp for the night at a
turnoff six miles north of
Haines & find a sign for free
camping with a senior discount.
Ahhh... It's so smooth.
Eric loves the Solo shot glass
cups I found at The Real
Canadian Superstore in
Whitehorse, Yukon Territory.
