Thunderbird RV Camping Resort in Monroe, Washington

Resort is where Eric & I
are staying while we
visit Seattle.

The Office is on the right.

The Laundromat is on the left.

The Swimming Pool

The eerie orb is from a raindrop.

It's a rainy day and I don't expect to see disembodied spirits on my walk.

The Lap Pool is closed right now.

The Spa

The Shuffleboard Courts

 The Basketball Court

The Playground

The Resort looks deserted on a cold wet day.  As I expected, no disembodied spirits.  Maybe I'm not sensitive enough to the Spirit World...

The Red Barn Lounge...

... is empty this afternoon.

The Pavilion has a fireplace
 & lots of seating for
large groups.

RVs are parked beneath trees
in this section of the Resort.

Two Yurts for Glamping...

Cabins are available too.

The bridge takes me across
the road to the section Eric
& I are parked in.

The sky starts to clear...

Eric's back from the grocery
store & I'm just in time to
help unload the car.

Columbia Center's Sky View Observatory in Seattle, Washington

Eric & I are visiting
behind me.

The F5 Tower is
behind Eric.

We are visiting the
Sky View Observatory
on the 73rd floor of
this 76 floor building.

Columbia Center is the tallest building in Seattle at 943 feet.  Runners up include 1201 Third Avenue (772 feet), Two Union Square (740 feet),  Seattle Municipal Tower (722 feet), and Safeco Plaza (630 feet).

We are about to ascend...

After some sightseeing, Eric &
 I will get a drink & a light meal
at Sky View Cafe & Bar...

... & visit the Gift Shop

Looking north the Seattle
 Space Needle looks small in
 comparison to the skyscraper
 in the foreground.

Sunlit high rises on Bainbridge
Island look surreal on an
overcast afternoon.

One of the fun things about being up high is looking down...

This building has rooftop
 gardens & seating areas.

The building in the foreground
has a helipad.

The Cruise Ship is docked at

In Seattle, some tunnels go
beneath buildings.

This hospital has three
helipads.

The one on the left is
busy...

There are displays of western Washington's geology, Puget Sound and Seattle's waterways, architecture, bridges, and sports teams.

The Port of Seattle is behind us.

It's the fifth busiest port in
America.

T-Mobile Field, home of the
home of the Seattle Seahawks
are south of Columbia Center.

My guess is that these two sports venues share parking facilities.

A plane comes in for a landing...

... at Sea-Tac Airport.

Eric & I share The Edgar Flatbread
 made with Chicken, Bacon,
 Smoked Gouda, Apricot Preserve
& Honey Drizzle.

Eric's Martini & my Mango Sunset
one of this evening's drink specials.

As we talk about this southernmost view of the Seattle skyline.  We have enjoyed each - from the Seattle Space Needle, from The Argosy Boat Cruise of Elliott Bay, and from Kerry Park at Queen Anne Hill.  Each vantage point provides a different perspective of the City, and we enjoyed each one.

Let's take another turn around the Observatory Deck before we return to our car...

Post Alley's Gum Wall in Seattle, Washington

Eric takes me to Post Alley
to see the art.

Gum Wall is a cooperative
art space that anyone can
contribute to...

.... with a well-chewed
wad of gum.

Eric found Gum Wall on Atlas Obscura.  We enjoy visiting strange and unique spots as we travel the country in retirement.

The crowd-sourced art
wraps around walls...

... to Unexpected Productions
Seattle's Longest Running
Improv Theater.

Seattle has interesting and eclectic Eric and I continue our walk south to the Columbia Center and Sky View Observatory.

Our Favorite Foods at Pike Place Market in Seattle

Eric and I snacked our way through Pike Place Market, often sharing our chosen foods...

We started our sampling
at The Crumpet Shop.

Our Crumpet is topped with
English Cheese, Egg & Ham.

The pan-fried Crumpet has a
soft consistency.

This is definitely a repeatable food experience for me.

Shy Giant Frozen Yogurt
also sells Greek Yogurt
with a choice of fruit.

We chose Cooked Rhubarb.

This is their smallest serving.

It's delicious!

Piroshky Piroshky sells
food that travels...

The yeast-leavened dough
is stuffed with sweet &
savory foods.

I choose Uli's Jalapeno
Sausage & Cheddar Roll.

We eat a Piroshky &
sample one of Uli's

The spicy, cheesy pastry
roll is soooo good!

Visitors to Pike Place Market
are encouraged to get their
Chowder early to avoid the
long lines.

Eric and I enjoyed chatting with other tourists during our five-minute wait.

won many awards for
their Chowders.

There are many choices here, including Mix and Match Sample Chowder Servings.

Eric & I share a New England
Clam Chowder Bread Bowl.

We talk about our experiences
sampling this style of Chowder

Eric & I stop at Beecher's
their cheesemaking process
at their oversized windows.

This store has cheeses
wrapped & to go.

Our choice is a Breadzel, made with
Potato Flour, Beecher's Cheese,
Herbs & Spices.

Cayenne & Red Pepper Flakes add
heat to this tasty snack.

Eric & I go to Market Grill
for their famous Blackened
Salmon Sandwich.

The reviews do not lie.

This is a delicious sandwich!

Eric has read about
& buys sugary doughnut holes.

We are delighted with all of our food choices and grateful for all those who shared their experiences on Yelp.com and Tripadvisor.com.
