Eric & the Locking Nut on the Tire Valve

Our right front passenger tire has been plagued with a VERY slow leak for several weeks.  Eric bought a wireless tire pressure reporting system for the motor home and we are fortunate to know what the tire pressure in each tire is all the time.

Because of the constant monitoring of tire pressures, we often add air to this tire before we set off for new places.

Eric decided to try tightening the nut at the base of the tire valve.  This is not an easy fix, as the nut on the tire valve is kind of hidden behind the wheel of the motor home.  It’s on an angle too.  Something like a tiny basin wrench would be perfect but....

The tire stem is kind of recessed in the wheel opening. It's not a wheel cover that you can take off.

Eric set to work with a variety of tools.  He believes he tightened the locking nut on the tire valve enough to rid us of the pesky airing up the tire problem.

As you  an see, this is the slide that Eric
hits his head on most often

This special set of offset needle-nosed pliers was his Dad’s
and I think it is now Eric’s favorite set of pliers.

That slide looks painful. I'm surprised Eric hasn't needed stitches if he has hit his head on that slide!
