Avenue of States at the Big E in West Springfield, Massachusetts

The Eastern States Exposition, commonly known as The Big E, is the only fair in the country with multiple states participating.  Founder, Joshua Brooks, convinced the National Dairy Show to hold its annual event in West Springfield in 1916. Brooks' goal was to share ideas and improve the region's agriculture.

The six New England states constructed a replica of its first state house on Avenue of States.

The Massachusetts Building

The property each building sits on belongs to each individual state.

Visitors to The Big E can visit all six New England states in one day.

The Maine Building

Each showcase their traditional and new products and attractions.

Visitors can sample and purchase products.

The Connecticut Building

This unique collaboration continues Joshua Brooks' legacy of promoting the New England region.

I enjoyed this "trip back in time" to see the New England states' original state houses.
