Wild Horses on Ocracoke Island, North Carolina






Eric and I  are driving
north along  the Cape Hatteras
National Seashore.











We pulled off the road at












The Banker Ponies are
horses, not ponies.





They are descended from

This one roots around
& then nibbles on
the grass.





The Banker Ponies receive supplemental food and hay.  





The horses are fenced in by
the National Park Service to
keep them from overgrazing
the island's vegetation.

I thought the horses were penned
to keep them off US Route 12.




There's beach access across the road.  Let's take a walk.
