The library was housed in a room in Village Hall for many years. The Pancho Villa Lounge was seized by federal agents in October 1992 because it was an asset bought with funds from marijuana smuggling. In 1996, the contents of the Pancho Villa Lounge was auctioned off and the proceeds were set aside to fund the Columbus Village Library.

The library maintains its history with newspaper clippings detailing its transformation from the village's only bar to the center of activity for Columbus.
