The Butchart Gardens is one
of Canada's many treasures.
Jennie Butchart looked out at the remains of the family's Limestone Quarry in 1912 and saw an opportunity to create beauty. Topsoil (LOTS of topsoil) was brought in by horse and cart. Brentwood Bay's temperate climate provided conditions to create gardens covering 55 acres.
Flower beds line walkways.

fellow Cruisers.
Flowers & shrubs

Flowers draw the eye
upwards to the
Ross Fountain.
The surroundings are
perfect for this statue.
Droplets of water cling to the ends of the petals.

The Star Pond captures
reflections as the
sunlight changes.
I look through a hole in
the trees & see the pier
Mr. Butchart built for
his yacht.
Two Fawns graze next
to an outer flower bed.
Butchart Gardens changes with the seasons. Eric and I are glad we spent time among the late summer blooms.
