Driving Northwest to Diamond Point, New York

Eric and I brought Sean home to his parents in Hudson.  We hugged and kissed our grandson, daughter, Diane, and son-in-law, Damon; waved goodbye and started our drive northwest to Diamond Point, New York.

Today's drive starts on
New Hampshire Route
101 West.

The "Old Man of the
Mountain" is the
state's Emblem.

The "Old Man's" profile, on Crown Mountain, in Franconia Notch State Park is a well known landmark.  Sadly, The Old Man crumbled on May 3, 2003, during a rain storm.  New Hampshire continues to embrace the rock formation and it's history.

One of the many rock cuts
we will pass by during
today's drive.

This sheer wall of rock is the result of drilling holes perpendicularly from the top of the chosen rocky surface; the insertion of carefully measured explosives, and blasting portions of the rocky area into rubble.  After the debris is removed, the remaining rock face is inspected and road construction equipment moves in to create a new roadway.

Today's drive takes
Eric & me north on

It's overcast to the
north.

Eric and I wonder if the slight irregularity catches light at differing times of the day.
