The Alice Moseley Folk Art Museum in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi

Eric & I take the elevator
to The Alice Moseley
Museum.
Donna recounts Alice Moseley art career.  She took up painting in her 60s.  Alice was self taught and began each painting with its title.  Each piece of art tells a specific story.

The top painting tells the story of
Alice's life during the Depression.

Her husband lost his job.

They lost their home & moved
into a Sharecropper's Cabin.

The Moseley's & their neighbors

Folk Art is not for
everyone.

Some consider the painting
style & the subjects portrayed
to be low class, crude.

Folk Art represents "a slice of life" for many Americans.  This style adds to the rich complexity of American Art.

The Moseley Museum has
a lovely collection of
Depression Era Glassware.

This Cambridge Dining
Centerpiece graced a
formal dining table in
the early 20th century.

The Moseleys moved to
Tupelo & were friends
with the Presley Family.

I appreciate the antiques
that are displayed with
Alice's works.

Take a print of your
favorite Alice Mosely
painting home to
remind you of the
lady & her art.

I'm going to look for Alice's art the next time Eric and I visit Washington D.C.'s National Gallery of Art Museums.
