Driving North to Farmington, New Mexico, with a Couple of Detours

Eric & I start our day
driving north on

Eric & I are fascinated
by the rock formations.

Is this a Mermaid
electric grid tower?

Goats graze in a
roadside field.

Crews are working on
newly installed
power poles.

A great "Don't Drink
& Drive" sign.

This rock formation is
made of different
colored bands of
sedimentary rock.

Shiprock rises out
of the desert.

Wind erodes this
rock formation.

The silhouette  of a
 tired Navajo warrior
on horseback.

We turn onto
U.S. Route 64
West.

The road twists  &
turns along the
valley floor.

This formation looks
like modern art.

A person posted a hand
written sign describing
a truck involved in
a robbery.

Eric & I cross the
boarder into
Arizona.

This rock formation looks
likes rocks tossed onto
a gravel pile.

Today's detour is the
Four Corners Monument.

After visiting the unique monument, we retrace our steps...

...back into

Plumes of rock fan
out from this mesa.

Sheep graze in a
nearby field.

This is a falling rock
zone.

Eric pulls into the Walmart
parking lot in Farmington.

We will spend the night on the edge of the parking lot.
