Sackets Harbor Battlefield State Historic Site

Sackets Harbor is strategically located near the confluence of Lake Ontario and the Saint Lawrence River.  A naval shipyard was constructed here, making Sackets Harbor the center of military and Naval activities in the region in during the War of 1812.

British and Canadian forces launched an attack against the Navy Yard on May 29, 1813.  The attack was repulsed by American regulars and militia.

Sackets Harbor is celebrating

The reenactors are volunteers.  They can be seen at the Sackets Harbor Battlefield Historic Site frequently throughout the late spring and summer.
