Kennett Square is the
I knew that Mushrooms are a major Agricultural Product in Pennsylvania, but had no idea that this area is the epicenter for Mushroom growing. Eric and I have driven past nondescript white warehouses in this area, never imagining these climate-controlled buildings are "Mushroom Farms."

Innovation is a major part of Kennett Square's history. In the late 1800s, William Swayne, decided to use the space beneath the Carnation Benches in his Green House benches to grow a second crop - Mushrooms.
He ordered the Spawn, mycelium from a Mushroom Culture, from England to start a new farming venture on his property. The rest, as they say, is history.
