Chester County, Southwest of Philadelphia is rich in history and culture.
We start our tour of the
County at Longwood
Pierre du Pont, entrepreneur, politician, and philanthropist bought the Peirce Farm and started building gardens.

It opened in 1921.
Pierre du Pont continued his family's love of gardening at Longwood Gardens. He added elements from European gardens and created fountain displays here.
Alice and Pierre's family enjoyed their time here. Nieces and nephews played on the large lawns and in the gardens.
The du Pont Garden Parties were a staple of the summer season in Chester County.
