Watching a Polo Match at Whitney Field in Saratoga Springs, New York

Eric bought a Groupon for the
last Polo Match of the year at
Whitney Field in Saratoga Springs.

Whitney Field was built in 1901 by William Collins Whitney for his son, Harry Payne Whitney, the family's polo player. The property became farmland in 1934 and was polo field and Club House were rebuilt in 1978 - 79.

Attendees are given score
sheets.

The Polo players come
onto the field.

As promised on the Saratoga
Polo website, the play is fast.
Our chosen team, the Drago's, takes an early lead against Congress Hill Farm.  The lead goes back and forth throughout the match.

I participate in the halftime
tradition of pressing down
divots created by the
Polo Ponies.

Drago's scores the winning
goal.

The crowd moves to
the Club House.

Tonight's trophy is
on display.

Both teams are on the stage
with tonight's dignitaries.

The Drago's raise their champagne glasses and the victory celebration begins!
