Eric & I Take a Tour at the Samuel Adams Brewery in Boston, Massachusetts

Eric and I drove into Boston from Brimfield for what we expect will be a busy day.

Our first stop is the

Sam Adams makes Eric's favorite beer - Tetravis.

Hops are growing up strings
next to one of the buildings.

We are here for a

The brewing process starts
in copper brew kettles.

Hops is added to the mash
& boiled

The beer is moved to a heat exchanger where it is rapidly cooled to the correct temperature for fermentation.

The cooled brew is moved
to fermentation tanks
& the yeast goes to work.

Beers are fermented for different amounts of time.  After the beer is put in kegs or bottles, its ready for drinking.

The Tasting Room

The tour group sampled Sam Adams Boston Lager and Nitro Peach Saison, an experimental beer.
We evaluated each of them by appearance, smell, taste and mouth feel.

Then, the growlers of
Crisp Ale came out.

Beer tasting can include
spillage.

Eric shows off his
growler pouring
skills.
Eric preferred the Boston Lager.  He liked the Crisp Ale.  I preferred the Peach Saison.  As a non-beer drinker, I appreciated its subtle peach and malt flavors and its lighter body.

Our next stop is the Samuel Adams Store for some shopping,
