Exploring Hanover, Pennsylvania

Eric and I want to walk around and explore South Central Pennsylvania.  Because there are so few hiking trails in the area, we decide to walk around a town.

Hanover is a good-sized community
& there will be buildings to
 photograph there.

Eric & I park near the Battle of Hanover Monument.

The Battle here on June 29, 1863, delayed JEB Stuart and the Confederate Cavalry as they approached Gettysburg.

Two Civil War Cannons are on display in front of the former Gitt Mansion.

Construction of commercial buildings with red brick was popular in the 1800s.

The building on the right was built in 1892.

I don't know when the overhead walkway to the building on the left was built.  (I am frustrated by formatting issues with the new Blogger Tool.)

The McAllister Hotel, built in the 1920s, has been converted into  A Luxury Residence.

Across the Street is Clarks BOSTONIAN Shoe Outlet.

This building has Art Deco
decorative features.

The lines of this building lead me
to believe that this building
was built in the 1800s.

The Hanover Theater is now
a public billboard space.

Eric points out the Church of Satire.

DABBER'S is the local Smoke Shop.

Trinity United Church of Christ
has many additions to its
original building.

The red brick house with blue trim has a plaque that states it is a Pre Civil War Home.

The year it was constructed isn't listed.

Eric looks at the promotional clock in front of Panebaker Funeral Home & says, "That's the kind of piece that American Pickers would be interested in."

The Moul House was built in 1915.

Rusticated stone details adorn the front porch on this large towered Victorian home.

Eric admires the Rose Window above the door of

We carefully examine all the wires running along the exterior of this Victorian house.

I assume that the house is undergoing major renovations.

Another beautifully maintained
 Pre Civil War house.

Many have been converted
 into businesses.

There's a painted rock on top
of the column next to this sign.

It's a Pumpkin.

I've found this summer.

I will report where I found the

Established in 1899, the building has been converted to apartments.

It looks like the old Firehouse
is now apartments.

Hanover's Masonic Hall

Eric & I walked 5.7 miles today
as we explored Hanover's history.

I hope to return to Hanover, post-Covid, to tour the UTZ Potato Chips Factory, Snyder's of Hanover, and Revonah Handmade Pretzels.
