Dateland Travel Center in Dateland, Arizona

Eric loves Dates!  Buying fresh Dates is something he looks forward to each time we are in the Southwest.

Let's see what
Center has for
Date lovers.

Eric samples different
varieties of Dates.

I learn about the Sex Life of the Date.  For every 49 Female Trees in an acre, there is 1 Male Tree.  The Female Trees are pollinated by hand because nature hasn't provided a reliable method for pollinating Female Date Palm Trees.  Growers then wait 7 months for the Dates to grow and mature.

Before humans started pollinating Female Date Trees, Dates were a very rare and much sought-after sweet treat.   Date Farmers created the worldwide love of Dates.  That's another reason to Thank a Farmer.
