I'm Confused About Rotterdam Square Mall: Is It Being Sold Twice?

Early June, 2015

I saw this sign from
Campbell Road.

I am confused.  I had read in the Times Union that the current owner, Mike Kohanwas in negotiations to sell Rotterdam Square Mall to Via Properties, a Turkish based developer. Has there been a change in Mike Kohan's plans that wasn't announced in the local newspapers?

For Sale:

120,000 Square Feet
7.8 Acres of Land

518-862-0861

The property is listed on the Vanguard-Fine LLC website as Macy's Rotterdam.

Here's the description of the property for sale:
I-890 to Campbell Road Exit 1/4 mile on west side of Campbell Road.
120,000 Square Foot Former Macy's sitting on just under 8 acres of land.  One story building. Excellent retail, office, education or medical space.  Less than three miles from site for the new casino.

I found a January 9, 2015 Daily Gazette article that states that Macy's owns its store in Rotterdam Square Mall and the land it sits on.

So, a shopping mall can be sold twice, if it's sold off in pieces.

The photo you have posted is for the Macy's building. The Macy's building is not owned by the mall and therefore is still for sale. The mall itself was sold to ViaPort as the news reports. Hope that helps.
