Eric bought a Reindeer sausage
with onions for us to share.
Reindeer and Caribou are classified under the same genus and species. Reindeer have been domesticated. They have become a herd animal with a different diet than Caribou. Reindeer aren't free to roam as Caribou do, making their meat distinctly different from their wild relatives.
Also, Caribou is a game meat and isn't allowed to be sold in Alaska.
The Reindeer Sausage & Onions
was very good.
Though the terms Reindeer and Caribou are used interchangeably, Eric and I now know that there are distinct differences in the meat.
