We start to see signs for
China Ranch Date Farm.
The road ahead is
steep & curvy.
The road narrows to
one lane.
Wind swept rock formations
jut out of the hillsides.
They have a variety
of shapes.
We arrive at
The sign on the left gives a brief history of the origin of the date farm's name. Chinese borax miner, Ah Foo, left the mines to take up farming in this secluded valley. He raised vegetables and livestock and sold them to local silver miners. The valley became known as "China Man's Ranch." The property changed hands several times and the name went with it.
