Hiking the Golden Canyon Trail in Death Valley National Park

Today we are hiking

This trail is described as easy.  It's one mile long.

Eric & I start into the canyon.

Eric sits on the remains of the
road that washed out in 1976.

Tectonic pressures lifted
this section of rocks &
tilted them.

The base of the canyon has
been scoured by water.

I'm fascinated by the
changes in the rocks
within half a mile.

The trail ends at the base of
the Red Cathedral, a majestic
wind whipped rock formation.

The walk back is all downhill.
