Restaurant in Capitan.
We visited Smokey Bear Historic Park here in 2019. The US Forest Service and the Ad Council created a Fire Prevention campaign in 1944 featuring a fictional Smokey the Bear.

We are here for the
Blue Plate Special:
Chicken Fried Steak
with two Vegetables.
A Bear Cub was found in a tree during the Capitan Gap fire in 1950. He was rescued by firefighters and taken for treatment of his burns. News of Smokey, the orphaned Cub hit the news. The Fire Prevention Campaign now had a spunky Bear that the public had fallen in love with and cared deeply about.
Eric's Chicken Fried Steak

Tater Tots with Green
Chili Sauce
My Chicken Fried Steak
came with Corn & Tater
Tots.
Each table has Smokey the Bear artwork.
We now know what Chicken Fried Steak tastes like and decided that we like the flavorful combination. I haven't eaten crunchy Tater Tots in many years and just loved them!
There are many pictures
of Smokey the Bear.

Eric and I enjoyed eating lunch at Smokey Bear's place and we thanked the Staff for our delicious lunches.
