The Cathedral Basilica of St. Peter in Chains in Cincinnati, Ohio





was dedicated on November 2, 1845.

It was built in the Greek Style.

The crossed Keys in the entry represent Matthew 16: 18 - 19:  Jesus said, "You are Peter & upon this rock I shall build my church...  I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven."

Pope Francis designated the Cathedral of St. Peter in Chains a Minor Basilic on June 29, 2020.  The  Pope recognizes the Cathedral's historic and cultural importance, artistic beauty, and significance in the life of the Church.
