Most of the rocks in Canyonlands National Park are from the ancient Rockies and the Appalachian Mountains. Particles arrived on the wind and by water and created the layers of rock seen here.
Enormous pressure created the Colorado Plateau. Canyonlands National Park is part of this massive Plateau.

I am fascinated by the differences in the geology of Arches National Park is different from Canyonlands National Park. The 26-mile drive takes half an hour.
