A quick summary of our solar system:
Panels -> charge controller -> batteries -> inverter -> outlets, microwave, TV etc.
1 - The sun excites the solar cells to generate electricity which follows a wire to a combiner box where all 5 panels wires come together.
2 – A larger diameter wire goes from the combiner box to the charge controller. The charge controller takes in the wildly varying voltage from the panels (up to 23 volts) and acts like a lock on the river. It only lets the proper amount of voltage through to the batteries.
From the batteries the power goes to 12 volt things directly like the lights and water pump.
From the batteries the power also goes to the inverter. The inverter takes in the 12 volt power and converts it to very clean 120 volt power and feeds all the A/C outlets for the microwave, TV, Satellite receiver, phone chargers, vacuum cleaner, electric blanket, powers sprayer, laptops, internet inverter etc.
