The De Young Museum in San Francisco, California

The De Young Museum is
in Golden Gate Park.

This museum has amazing and diverse collections.  I decided to share some of its sculptures and paintings.

Man Observing Series II

Viola Frey

Petunias

Georgia O'Keefe

In the 1920s some American painters focused on the geometric shapes and angles in their works.  When I see realistic art that focuses on buildings' shapes and details, I think of Percisionism.

Cat-walk, inspired by Ford's
River Rouge Plant

Charles Sheeler

1947

Him & Her Hold a Root

For me this piece combines the order and chaos of life.

Two Women & a Child

Diego Rivera

Blood & Meat, Survival for the World

Rope, carpet, metal, canvas scraps, enamel and paint creates interconnection and the feeling of chaos.

I am more familiar with Sargent's portrait works.

View Near the Village of Catskill

Thomas Cole

This is a beautiful piece from the Hudson River School.  I'm happy to see art featuring my home region in New York State.

Rainy Season in the Tropics

The Bronco Buster

Frederick Remington

1895

Remington's sculptures represent iconic images of the American West.

Take your time examining this Still Life Painting.  It does a great job of documenting contemporary life.

San Francisco has amazing art museums.  I feel enriched by my time here at the De Young and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
