reminds Eric of
The legs of the housewife on the left morphed into running lava. Much of the Southwest shows evidence of ancient volcanic activity. Look carefully at the silver stream within the lava. I see a face. The bus and car came to rest at the edge of a large Mesa, which has been worn by millennia of wind erosion. The rock formations beneath the housewife of rock formations in Joshua Tree National Park. Millions of years, and erosion created the "rock piles" visitors see today. I see a bird-like face in the lower right corner.
I've been reading American Art, The World's Greatest Art by Mike O'Mahony and paying close attention the artistic influences of America's modern artists. Jim is an admirer of illustrator Haddon Sundblom.
I just found out that Sundblom
Sundblom's kindly Quaker &
a dark, menacing Quaker
with a gun.
Jim's Plains Indian
& the smiling 1960s
housewife in "The
Dark Ride" continues
the artist's time
warping techniques.
The more I study Jim's works, the more I see his artistic influences and his use of imagery.
