Day Four: New York to Texas, Our Off Highway Travels, WV to KY

Back on the road again...  It's November 11... Veteran's Day.

We begin tody's drive
on US Route 50  West.

This bridge takes us...

.... across the Ohio River.

A tugboat pushes a barge
north on the river.

Welcome to Ohio. 

Ohio State Route 32, aka
the Appalachian Highway;
US 50 West & Ohio 
State Route 7 South
share the same
roadway.

The median is very

wide here.

This road has many

side streets.

Grazing cattle ignore

the traffic noise.

Eric and I look for the Apple Water Tower that is listed on our GPS.  We wonder if it will be specifically shaped, like the Paeachoid in Gaffney, South Carolina.

The Jackson Apple Water

 Tower is a regularly shaped

 water tower painted red

with a green leaf.

The stem makes the water

tower look like an apple.

We turn onto Ohio State
Route 41 South.

The Adams County Courthouse

I don't know what the

This is the kind of road

Eric & I prefer to

travel during this

trip.

Grapes grow on the

banks above the

Ohio River.






The Ohio River meanders and is the border for several states.

is Kentucky.

roadwork ahead. 

It must be a new road.

we are crossing a field.

back seat of the SUV

asks Eric for directions.

Eric's says."I'm from New York State and don't know where anything is around here."

I caught the sillouette

of a military helicopter. 

With two propellers, I think it's a Chinook.

I think, I hope this is

a drive in screen.

the Walmart in Paris.
