Montrose is a waypoint on today's drive east on US 50 to Gunnison, Colorado.
It looks kind of flat ahead...
This mountain looks like
a HUGE gravel pile.
"It might be a tumor.
No. it's not a toomer."
It's a glacial oddity.
Eric and I pass Electronic Signs letting drivers know of Roadwork Ahead on US 50. For further information go to www.us50info.com. There is blasting along our route. The road is open for specific hours each day. Expect long delays.
There are just two trucks ahead
of us when we stop for the
Pilot Car, on the right.
In all our travels since September 2012, all the Pilot Cars have been trucks.
tons & tons of blasted
rock.
A shot to the Power Plant.
Eric promised to take me to
Blue Mesa Dam today.
It's an earth-filled dam on
the Gunnison River.
It contains the turbine that
generates electricity.
The dam formed Mesa Reservoir. It covers over 900,000 acres & has 96 miles of shoreline.
The Gunnison River's side
Eric points out this waterfall.
To me, it looks like the water
is running over a long
black tarp.
