An Afternoon in Old Sacramento




Eric drives to Old Sacramento State Historic Park.





The discovery of gold in nearby Sutter's Mill in 1848 started a building boom in Sacramento.



This is our second time around...

We visited here in 2014.

This statue commemorates the
beginning of the Pony Express.

The first mail delivery rider started 
the 1,966-mile journey to 
 April 4, 1860.




The Pony Express lasted just 18 months.  In that time the dedicated young riders worked together to deliver 35,000 pieces of mail.
