of places to visit in
Northern Iowa.
During World War II there was a German POW Camp in the area. Camp Algona was razed years ago, and a Museum was developed to memorialize the experience for the transplanted German Soldiers and Iowans of the era.
Loretta Ellsworth's Stars Over Clear Lake is the fictional account of a romance between a young woman, Lorraine Kindred, and a German POW. and her experiences in The Surf Ballroom.

the far end of the parking lot.
