We Head Northeast.... to Augusta, Maine

Eric & I leave Cape Ann
Campsite under a light
rain.

This car moves as far as it can
to the right of its lane to allow
maximum space for safe
two way traffic on this
 narrow road.

Massachusetts Route 128 South
will take us to an interchange
that leads north.

The rain gets heavier as we
travel south.

Welcome Bienvenue
New Hampshire
Live Free or Die

New Hampshire honors its French heritage"Live Free or Die" is a 1809 quote from Revolutionary War General John Stark, who led troops at the Battle of Bunker Hill and the Battle of Bennington.

Interstate 95 takes us north....

Piscataqua River Bridge

the Picataqua River.

Fun Fact:  In 2000 New Hampshire took its Piscataqua River boundary dispute with Maine to the US Supreme Court.  Depending on where the border is drawn, Seavey Island, the site of the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard is in Maine, or it's in New Hampshire.  The Supreme Court ruled that New Hampshire's claim that the shared state border is on the north side of the river is invalid because it changes the previous 1977 ruling on the state line.  Seavey Island, and the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, remains in Maine.

Maine Turnpike

We will continue north on
Interstate 95.

Finally, at Exit 2....

Welcome to Maine
The Way Life Should Be
Open For Business

Drizzling rain returns as I notice
that southbound traffic is
heavier than northbound traffic.

Northbound traffic slows as
drivers move over for
flashing lights.

A tow truck is on the scene
to help a car that has
 broken down.

Eric & I leave Interstate 95
for Interstate 295 North.

Cranes & Jersey Barriers are
part of  Construction
 Season repair work.

This Swing Bridge is pivoted
90 degrees to allow boats to
navigate designated channels.

This was my parents' choice of Beans.  Our family ate SPAM and Beans fairly regularly.

Augusta, & Maine's State House
is 8 miles away.

wreck a driver's day.

Eric & I leave Interstate 295
at Exit 112A.

lists both stores as
allowing overnight parking.

As we drive through the Walmart parking lot, Eric and I decide that the lot is too crowded for our 40 foot motorhome and Jeep.

A driveway takes us to Sam's Club,
which is experiencing a lull
in shoppers.

We are parked in an adjacent,
overflow parking lot.

This is a great choice for our overnight parking spot.  It's almost dead level and this parking lot is quiet.

After reporting to the Member Services Desk Staff that Eric and I are parked well away from the store, it's time for a late lunch.

After shopping at Walmart,
Eric returned to the
motorhome & found a
Seagull on top of our
Fantastic Fan Cover.
