Eric & I drove past the Azorean
Restaurant & Bar on our way
back to Cape Ann Campsite &
decided that we'd like to try a
new restaurant on this return
trip to Gloucester.
We decided on an early dinner so we could linger over our meal.
The restaurant's decor
features paintings &
decorations from the
Azores Islands, west
of Portugal.
Immigrants from Portugal and the Azores started arriving in Gloucester in the late 1800s to work in the fishing and textile industries. Their culinary culture is found in diners and higher end restaurants throughout the region.
Wine Bottle holders are part of
the partitions between booths.
I am giving out points for
the acoustic tiles mounted
above the windows.
Most restaurants omit this
detail & dining rooms
get very noisy.
I think the black squares
on the wall may also be
acoustic tiles.
Our server takes a
picture of us.
Our warm bread &
spiced dipping oil
It's soooo good...
We choose a dry White Portuguese Wine to accompany our meals.
Eric's Grilled Seafood Combo:
Salmon & Homemade Fish
Stuffing on a Bed of Spinach
with Asparagus.
Eric takes a picture of
a piece of Calamari.
The Homemade Fish Stuffing
is the ball beneath his thumb.
My choice is the Gloucester
Fisherman Platter with
Fried Haddock, Calamari,
Scallops & Batatas Fritas
a Rodela.
Eric and I linger over our perfectly prepared meals. The noise level remains low as more and more diners arrive and order their dinners and drinks.
The Azorean Restaurant and Bar will be added to our "Must Visit List" for future visits to Gloucester.
