This is the only former home of two Presidents: George H.W. Bush, 41st President, and George W. Bush, 43rd President, AND two Governors: George W. Bush was Governor of Texas and Jeb Bush was Governor of Florida.
George H. W. Bush and Barbara Bush bought this house for their growing family in 1951. At the time Midland was a booming Oil Town and George H.W. planned to make his mark in the Industry.
Their firstborn, George W. Bush was five years old and their daughter Robin (Pauline Robinson) was two years old when the family moved here. She died from Leukemia in 1953. Jeb (John Ellis Bush) was born the same year. In 1955 they moved to a larger home in Midland. Neil and Marvin were born in Midland in 1955 and 1956.
The family moved east to Houston in 1958 and the youngest child, Dorothy, joined the family in 1959.
The home was purchased in
2001 by George W. Bush,
Inc. & restored to its
The home was added to the
Places in 2004 & opened as
a museum in 2006.
It is open for tours from Thursday through Sunday. Eric and I missed this opportunity.
