The Groundbreaking Ceremony for the New Mont Pleasant Library in Schenectady, New York





Buildings to the left of the
Mont Pleasant Library Branch
have been removed.






A community resource for many years, this library no longer meets the changing needs of the neighborhood.





The empty space is ready
 for construction of the
new Mont Pleasant
Library.






Ceremonial shovels have
been placed in a pile of
dirt for the Groundbreaking
Ceremony.

ceremony.

County Legislature,
spoke about community
support for the new
library.





the Legislature's efforts to secure
 funds for the new library.


Carmel Patrick, President of
the Schenectady County
Public Library Board of
Trustees, told the audience
that the $700,000.00
fundraising goal was
exceeded by $300,000.00.



Santabarbara, a Mont Pleasant
native, spoke of the State
Legislature's work to fund new
library construction.

scheduled to start...




The Mont Pleasant neighborhood, area schools and the business community look forward to construction of the new Mont Pleasant Branch Library.  This inclusive public space will help the neighborhood redefine and recreate itself as it meets challenges of the 21st century.
