Eric & I drive to Picacho
to visit Rooster Cogburn
Ostrich Ranch.
Let's go feed the animals.
A mother Donkey & her babe.
The other Miniature Donkeys
are lined up at the fence
for snacks.
Parakeets eat seeds from a
stick visitors place inside
their coop.
Deer Crossing
Eric feeds the Fallow Deer.
Goats in the Penthouse
wait for snacks.
Why are they penned up there? According to the sign, Goats like to climb and always seek the highest point when they are grazing. Some believe that Goats want to be as high as possible so they can spot predators (foxes, mountain lions, coyotes, etc.) as they approach.
Eric drops some Kibble in
a cup &...
... turn the crank handle to
send the food to the Goats.
Eric is about to kiss a Boar
Goat at the
Hole in the Wall Gang.
They gently take long pieces
of Kibble from visitors.
I'm glad that the Boar Goats are penned. Years ago I had to sweep my young daughter, Diane, off her feet while visiting Catskill Game Farm because Goats were nibbling on her clothing.
We visit the Ostriches &
heed the warnings...
Watch For Long Legged
Chicks &
Yes! Ostriches Bite
Hello!!!!!
Eric makes friends easily.
Feeding Chickens at
The Little Henhouse
They eat grain we
put in their trays.
Eric cleans his hands with
towelettes at the
Goat Crossing.
They stand on their back
feet & reach up for snacks.
Pekin Ducks gather for
food in Quackville.
Whoa Pilgrim!
Make sure the door behind is
shut before opening this one.
Rainbow Lorikeets perch on
a fence waiting for visitors.
It's All Fun & Games Until
Someone Gets Pooped on.
Then It's Just Plain Fun.
Two Lorikeets drink nectar
from the cup Eric is holding.
Nearby, a Desert Tortoise
munches on Pumpkin.
Some of the Tortoises have
been donated to the Ranch.
We enjoy watching them
glide past us.
... plunge to the bottom of
the pool for their food.
This has been lots of fun. What's next?
