A Dusty Drive East to Guadalupe Mountains National Park

West El Paso is a prosperous area.

They have a PORSCHE Dealership.

The sky is grey because of the
winds whipping sand into
the air.

Interstate 10 West is thataway.

Next...  Loop 375 East

Eric takes his time on this
8 percent grade.

A dust cloud roils across
a section of El Paso.

Use Caution

Wind Advisory

The wind is carrying sand
from areas with sparse
vegetation.

The Fort Bliss Water Tower
is obscured today.

Sand blows across the
roadway.

We had to stop at Circle K
to top off our diesel fuel
tank at $2.63 per gallon.

Acres of cars & trucks
sit roadside.

US Route 62 will take Eric &
me to Guadalupe Mountains
National Park.

A truck pulled off the road
for a break, maybe to wait
for the winds to subside.

This dry area is....

... Linda Lake.

I poked around on the internet
& didn't find out if the lake has
shrunk or is bone dry.

Farmland

Guadalupe Mountains National
Park is 7 miles up the road.

I wonder if Spanish Explorers gave
the name to the prominent formation
in numerous mountainous regions.

Traffic slows for an
Oversized Load.

The tractor trailer, with its Oversized
Load pulls onto the shoulder.

It's our turn to pass.

This picture is brighter because
the dust isn't as thick here &
I got out of the motorhome
to get this shot.

The road to the Campground
& the Visitors Center

Here we are, parked with no utilities.

Senior Pass, camp fees are half
price:  $7.50 per night.

The Driver's side front wheel
is chocked.

Our Driver's side rear wheel
is off the ground.

The winds will die down and the dust will clear by tomorrow.  Eric and I look forward to seeing the brilliant blue sky and beautiful mountains.
