Walking Around Downtown Asheville, North Carolina

Asheville is nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina.  It has grown from a small town to the largest city in Western North Carolina.  Asheville is known for art events and festivals.

It's a great day for
walking the city.

Statues dot the downtown.

Asheville, like many US cities has been coping with the economic downturn of 2008.  For years Asheville has fought budget shortfalls by deferring projects, freezing benefits and salaries.  The deficits have grown and now Asheville is considering raising property taxes to shore up the city's finances.

I like the name of

Until the 1920s, Wall Street
was paved with a sidewalk.
Access to the second floor of
buildings was by footbridge,
or catwalk.

Asheville is a bit hilly.
I'm enjoying the different
types of architecture here.

spot for musicians to perform.
