Exploring Travel Inn Resort in Elma, Washington

I walk around campgrounds
we stay at to take pictures
to help me remember one
from another.

Eric and I have been in a lot of campgrounds since we retired in September 2012.

The Lodge

RVers can borrow books here.

The book this Camper
read was a real killer.

I like the kitchen & wide
serving counter.

There's seating for a large group.

A small stage is on the far left.

The Bride & Groom with
the Best Man

They're a lovely couple!

The second floor has seating
& Pool Tables.

The Gazebo has a fireplace.

Shuffleboard anyone?

The Pool is closed for the season.

Tether Ball & the Playground

Our fellow RVers

This Resort has campsites for
disabled RVers.

This is a nice place to stay.  Eric and I agree that we'll return here when we're in southwestern Washington.

Driving Southwest to Elma, Washington

Today's drive starts on

Then south onto
Interstate 405 South

Autumn's colors line this
section of the highway.

Tarps protect newly dug
roadside slopes from
eroding in the rain.

Traffic is busy as Eric & I
travel near Seattle.

We turn onto
Interstate 5 South.

I like taking pictures of cranes.

We continue onto Washington
State Route 8 West

Elma is 6 miles away.

Here's our exit to
US Route 12 East &...

Elma
Gateway to
Gray's Harbor
Since 1888

Eric & I are staying at

An Afternoon in Monroe, Washington

Today Eric & I are exploring
downtown Monroe.

Eric likes this church's Spanish

Two Denominations worship

Monroe Chamber of
Commerce

The mural on the side of the
 building has portraits of
famous Freemasons.

I recognize George Washington, Ben Franklin, Mark Twain, John Wayne, and Buzz Aldrin.  I don't know who two of the portraits on the left are.

This older "barn style" home
is beautifully kept.

Buildings from the early 1900s house 21st century businesses.

Doloff-Key Building Since 1901

South Lewis Street has more murals...

I love this scene...

The truck cab is painted
on the side door of the
building.

A scene from one of my
favorite plays -
Anything Goes
Dated June 1993

This mural should be titled Life on the River.

Keg-n-Cue's mural covers most of its building.

Northwest Different

That doesn't sound right...

I love the vintage Gas
Station Theme.

& Brewery

Savoy Building

Las Tres Marias

colorful figures in
Tai Chi poses.

Camp Building

Eric walks past a HUGE
 floral planter.

Don's Barber Shop
has a whimsical
Sandwich Board

This building with its
rusticated stone facade
is a stand out among
the early 20th century
buildings in Monroe.

City Hall, erected in 1908,
now houses the Monroe
Museum & Olde Stuff
Antiques

been in business since 1908.

Sunrise Dental

Monroe's downtown businesses
continue to thrive as big box
stores opened just miles away.

From what I've seen traveling across America, that's a major accomplishment for a small city.
