Rudy's Bar-B-Q in Pharr, Texas

Our next Bar-B-Q experience is in Pharr, which is Pharr, Pharr away.....

                                                                                           I just couldn't help myself.

Rudy's Bar-B-Q's sign is
easily seen from
Interstate 2.

Rudy's sells Brisket,
Sausage, Ribs,
 Chicken, Turkey
 & Pork Loin.

I like knowing what the meats are.  Decisions can be made as we cross the parking lot.

In addition to all
the meats, Rudy's
is open for
breakfast.

Pick up a bag of Potato
Chips & a cold drink
before ordering your
meat(s).

Meats are served by weight here.  Sides are pre-packaged and selected by each customer.

Diners eat beneath
an American flag.

Our tray is a plastic soda crate.

Eric is trying Moist
Brisket & Lean
Brisket.

I chose Pulled Pork.

Our sides are Potato Salad and Coleslaw. Everyone gets bread with their Bar-B-Q choices.

Our sauce choices are:
Rudy's Bar-B-Q Sauce
& Rudy's Sissy Sauce.

The Sissy Sauce was delicious.  Rudy's Bar-B-Q Sauce is hot.  Eric likes it very much.

I like that Rudy's reuses
Hot Sauce Bottles as
toothpick dispensers.

Our taste testing results are:  Eric prefers Moist Brisket to Lean Brisket.  The extra bit of fat adds a lot of flavor to the meat.  I prefer Rudy's gently pulled, moist Pulled Pork to the drier Pulled Pork at Original Willie's Bar-B-Q in Alamo.  The Potato Salad and Coleslaw are delicious.

Eric's only unmet desire is that Rudy's does not sell Beef Ribs.  Original Willie's Bar-B-Q has generous Beef Ribs.  Well, we can't have it all....
