In 2009 Necco Wafer flavor formulas were changed and glycerine was added to make Necco Wafers softer. Fans of the candy were not impressed and sales plummeted.
The New England Candy Company suffered financial losses in 2007 and was sold to American Capital. The Revere Plant closed in 2018 and the Spangler Candy Company purchased the Necco Wafers, Canada Mints, and the Sweethearts candy lines.
Necco Wafer fans have access to their beloved sweet treat again and younger candy lovers will now grow up with this historic, flavorful tube of fun.
