Powerlines don't detract from the rugged beauty before us.
Snow dusted mountains in
the distance
Sheep graze just off
the highway.
We are passing through an
ancient Lava Field.
It looks like the Valley of
Fires in Carrizozo, NM.

Gusty Winds May Exist
I love taking pictures in this

Erosion created this "tower."
We leave the highway to get fuel in...

Diesel is $2.19 per gallon at
Lisa's Truck Center.
Gas pumps on the left.
Diesel pumps on the right.

Tucumcari is 41miles away.
There's an overnight spot
there.
There's a Dinosaur Museum
in Tucumcari.
Another item is added to our
places to visit list.
Today's 5 1/2 hour drive ends
at the vacant KMart just
outside of Tucumcari.
We park along an edge,
facing the store.
Eric and I overnighted here in 2015. The parking lot remains in good condition, free of potholes and broken glass.
