The Bocuse Restaurant....

... at the Culinary Institute

of America in Hyde Park.

from the movie, Ratatouille.

I love the display

cases.

Today, we are exploring French Cuisine.  

Our reservation is for
11:30 am.

I take pictures of the

restaurant before the

tables fill up.

The restaurant's decor
is simple.

This restaurant focuses
on its cuisine & the
dining experience.

Our appetizers...

I started with Crispy Sweet Breads 

with Asparagus, Pickled Peaches,

 Salad, Herbs & Pink Peppercorn.

 

Eric's choice was Citrus-Cured
Big Eye Tuna with Hearts of
Palm, Green Beans,
Hon-Shimeji Mushrooms &
Chilled Basque Tomato Puree.

Adam tried the Torchon of

 Foie Gras with Apricot Compote,

Black Plum, Muscat Grape Gel,

 Candied Marcona Almonds

 & Brioche.

We are very pleased with our choices.  

                                      On to our entrees...

Eric an I asked for recommendations for wines with or entree choices.

The Pinot Noir was an excellent
choice with my Barbajuan
with Vegetable Tian.

This dish is made with Brick Pastry,
Chard, Ricotta, Vegetable Cake,
Tomato Panna Cotta & Basil Whip.

Eric's Breast of Long Island

Duck with Hazelnut Puree,

Rainbow Swiss Chard, Gold

Beets & Balsamic Cherry

 Infusion was perfectly paired

 with Cabernet Sauvignon.

Adam's Olive Oil Poached
Halibut with Spinach, Zucchini
Blossoms & Ratatouille
Coulis was as beautiful as
it was delicious.

Our dessert choices...

I chose Mocha & Toasted Baguette

with Gateaux, Sweet Butter

 Brioche & Concord Grape

 Confiture.

It was a decadent choice.

Adam's choice was the Modernist
Lemon Bar, made with Creme 
Fraiche Cake, Lemon Curd Coconut
Ice Cream & Tamarind Sauce.

He loved it!

Eric selected the Cheese Platter

with Camembert, Goat's Milk,
 Morbier & Bleu Cheeses,
 nuts & Sourdough with
 dried fruit.

He enjoyed the cheese
pairings.

Lunch at The Bocuse Restaurant was a wonderful experience.  Eric, Adam and I enjoyed trying French dishes.  We will continue exploring our exploration.

Fall Comes to Rotterdam, New York

My daily walk has become
more colorful.

Fall has come to

Rotterdam.

Some trees have
a rusty hue.

The yellow tree

"lights up" the street.

This tree is changing
color from the
top to the bottom.

Some bushes change

color too.

The next few weeks
will be
ever-changing.

Diane, Damon and Sean's Whirlwind Visit

Aunt Betty is the family
matriarch.

 All too soon it was time for Diane, Damon and Sean to drive home to New Hampshire.

The View from the Thatcher Park Overlook

Thatcher Park is located in south central Albany County.  This state park preserves six miles of the fossil rich Helderberg Escarpment.

On a clear day, visitors can see Vermont's Green Mountains from the escarpment.  

Signs warn visitors of the
steep drop off just past
the fence line.

Sumac, just past the fence adds

 color to the escarpment.

The upper right hand quadrant

shows homes built at the 

base of the mountain.

I zoomed in on a house

surrounded by trees.

The limestone of the 

Helderberg Escarpment

stand out against the 

autumn foliage.

Leaf Peeping in Rural Albany County

We continue our
drive north...

...past the Lake Myosotis

spillway.

This is my favorite picture

of the lake.

Lake Myosotis is located in the Huyck Preserve and Biological Station in the hamlet of Rensselaerville.

In the middle of the woods,

we find the Carey Institute

for Global Good.

The Institute provides a place
for change makers to come
together & innovate.

The autumn color palate is

on display.

The red tree catches
my eye....

The falling leaves keep the

grounds staff at

Thatcher Park busy.

Today's drive was
