Spending the Day in Canyonlands National Park in Utah

Eric & me with the Canyonlands National Park Sign.

Most of the rocks in Canyonlands National Park are from the ancient Rockies and the Appalachian Mountains.  Particles arrived on the wind and by water and created the layers of rock seen here.

Enormous pressure created the Colorado Plateau.  Canyonlands National Park is part of this massive Plateau.

Millions of years of erosion
created the landscapes we
see today.

This selfie shows

Eric's video

Some formations are
conical.

Others look like
rolling hills.

Shafer Canyon Overlook

The hardest stone is left
after millennia of
wind, rain, ice & snow.

Eric looks out at the vista.

It appears to go on forever.

I love looking at the
scenery.

I can see for miles & miles...

The rocks change from
red to tan.

I am fascinated by the differences in the geology of Arches National Park is different from Canyonlands National Park.  The 26-mile drive takes half an hour.
