Hudson Mohawk Library Association Honors Karen Bradley, Schenectady County Public Library Director @ Century House in Latham, New York

Capital District librarians met
at Century House in Latham
for the Hudson Mohawk
Library Association Spring
Dinner on April 27, 2018.

System introduces our
special guest....

Karen Bradley, Director of the
Schenectady County Public
Library, is receiving the
Hudson Mohawk Library
Association Lifetime
Achievement Award.

Karen is very busy building new libraries in the City of Schenectady.

opened in February 2016 in
Hamilton Hill after over
two years without a library
in their neighborhood.

Karen & the Board are about
to break ground for a new
library branch in the Mont
Pleasant neighborhood
of Schenectady.

The current Mont Pleasant Library Branch is in a cramped storefront location that lacks space for tutoring and meetings.  The proposed library, which addresses the needs for more space for library books and movies, space for Youth and Adult programs and the luxury of meeting rooms will meet the demands of 21st century.

Association, with Karen &
her award.

Librarians are always interested in seeing what other libraries are doing to serve their communities.

I brought a slide show of
libraries I toured while my
husband, Eric & I travel
across our country.

Starting at Central Arkansas Library System's Main Library in Little RockArkansas in October 2013, Eric and I traveled Southwest and visited the Roy and Helen Hall Memorial Library in McKinneyTexas later that month.

In December 2013 our travels took us to Southwest to the Marfa Public Library in MarfaTexas before turning West to the  Columbus Village Library in ColumbusNew Mexico and the Quartzsite Public Library in QuartzsiteArizona in January 2014.

Our trip to Alaska in 2014 included stops at the Haines Borough Library in HainesAlaska and the Homer Public Library in HomerAlaska.

In the fall of 2015 Eric and I visited the Farmington Public Library in FarmingtonNew Mexico and the Durango Public Library in DurangoColorado

I shared libraries large & small.

Each library, with community
input, meets the specific needs
of the people they serve.

Thank you to the Hudson Mohawk Library Association Board Members for giving me the opportunity to give back to the library community in the Capital Region, which has provided me with many opportunities throughout my career.
