Starting Our Drive East on US 50 in Sacramento, California

Eric's ready to drive east on US 50.

US Route 50 starts in Sacramento.

It does not run from coast to coast.

And away we go...

We retrace our drive east through

El Dorado National Forest.

There's no snow covering the

mountains & trees today.

We continue on US 50 East.

Our drive west included

California State Route

89 South.

The climb brings us to

open terrain.

The elevated route is 

the bike trail.

Welcome to South Lake Tahoe.

 on the Nevada State Line.

After climbing up through

El Dorado Forest, the route

starts downward...

This gentle downhill is deceptive.

Eric slows the motorhome to keep

its speed under 65 miles per hour.

This limo is headed west

to Lake Tahoe.

Eric & I overnight

at Walmart.

Our four and a half hour drive stretched into six hours because Eric consistently drove below the posted speed limit.  Driving without a break from me has left him tired.  Eric broke his first rule of driving... more than four hours without a break.  He'll yield the steering wheel from now on...
