Exploring Highlands Hammock State Campground in Sebring, Florida

Highlands Hammock
State Park

There are 138 campsites with
water & electric hookups.

Primitive Campsites are
available.

Eric and I are living comfortably on our 30 amp connection.

This Coachman Fifth Wheel
is quite old.

An adult can't stand up in the bedroom.  There are no slideouts.

The pavilion has two
sets of picnic tables.

Here's a long distance
shot of our motorhome
from an adjacent
camp road.

Because Eric and I are camped under trees, we have not DirecTV satellite reception.  That's OK. There are nine trails to hike and a popular three mile bike loop.  Catch and Release Fishing is allowed at the nearby Seven Lakes management unit.

One of the Bath Houses

This one has outdoor
 sinks.

A Playground

Seating around the fire
pit is welcoming.

This Bath House looks
newer, less rustic than
others I've seen.

Four of the six washers &
dryers campers use.

$1.00 per load of wash and $.75 per dryer load is a bargain for "taking care of business."

A small Lending Library
offers free entertainment.

There's a Playground at
the Recreation Hall.

Highlands Hammock State Park has lots of activities.  Craft Classes, Potluck Dinners as well as catered Breakfast and Dinner occur weekly at the Recreation Hall.  There are Ranger Led Tours, monthly Guest Lectures, a Music in the Park series, Trolley Tours led by a Park Ranger, Annual Half Marathon and 5K Races.

The Hammock Inn is
the Civilian Conservation
Corps former Mess Hall.

The Dump Station is on
a rise.

I was surprised that there's only one Dump Station for a campground with over 100 campsites.
