The End of Mardi Gras OR The Party's Over....

It's 11:47 pm on Mardi Gras
(Fat Tuesday) & the crowds
are enormous.

At midnight the police vehicles
start rolling.

Followed by the police
on horseback clearing
the streets.

It's Ash Wednesday,
the first day of Lent.

The police vehicles and the police horsemen are the signal that the Mardi Gras reveling is officially ending.  They don't tell individuals to go home, but moving the crowd gives people options.  They can go into the bars on Bourbon Street, go home, look for bars on other streets, go to other parts of the city.  It's official... The Party's Over.
